Hello heroes and wanderers of Middle-earth. Its a questy type adventure in to the bleak (and not so bleak) areas of the Grey Mountains. For more details as to how to start (perhaps a post from Rivendell) here my first post: lostfellowship.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=thranduilcaves&action=display&thread=1424&page=1It basically outlines whats going on (with no spoilers lol) and fromit you can see my style of post and decide if you are interested in joining Thranduils company. I may well not acompany the group as Thranduil himself, pewrhaps one of his scouts and will be somewhat of a narrator along with it. What we need: Elves from Rivendell, can be of Ranger/Warrior/Adventurer type. Dunedain (Rangers of the North) also from Rivendell area. Woodsmen of the Beornings (perhaps difficult to play I guess) Maybe even a brave man of Dale (or at a push, a Dwarf from Erebor) though it is assumed, rightfully or wrongly that they have grown too comfertable ( and weary of Dragons lol to show much interest in this venture) Suggested Canons if required: Sons of Elrond Aragorn (as part of his wanderings before the Ring War) HalBarad etc GrimBeorn (at a push) though i guess original characters may well be more fun, I don't mind either way. Obviously they can't be milkmaids and librarian types, must be suited to the open wilds, and remember this is the WILDER SIDE of Rhovanion. The paths are not well trodden these days lol Hope some guys show an interest as it could be fun Thrandy

What year is it? I'd love to take on Aragorn but has someone already got him? He's free in the lists but I've seen someone playing him round the boards... If not would Boromir be around? I like playing canons but I don't want to audition one if they're taken or wouldn't have been alive!

Good question I was thinking the year is around 2955, which should be just after Aragorn becomes the Chieftain of the Dunedain, but before he first meets Gandalf, if that helps. It is also a few years after the ring was found by Bilbo. One good talking point, would also be that Sauron has recently (2-3 years previously) declared himself in Mordor, having fled Dol-Guldur. Incidentally, the last council of the wise took place shortly before also. So in a sense this is just as the Ring War becomes an inevitable threat to peace that looms on the horizon. Aragorn Elessar: I can only imagine that if Aragorn is on the list, he is currently available. Whether multiples of characters are available in ME boards regardless, I am not entirely sure... I see Aragorn as the best Canon for a role in this, though to be true to this story line, his age must be taken into account. He was also known as Estel until very recently in this time-line. What we have: Potentially, a wood elf scout from my realm (HalHigil), a wandering half-elf (Arohtar) perhaps motivated by concern for the woodsmen/ or as their representative. Aragorn out of Rivendell after training and fighting alongside the Sons of Elrond. (tracking, hunting Orcs, herb-lore etc). I was looking for 3-4 (5 at max) characters , so i have no complaints. Of course we will wait for Kaos before we start, but thats cool, plenty of time for any questions or whatever. Do you guys want maps?

Ooh great, thanks ;D I'll write a profile for Aragorn anyway and hope he's accepted, but I'll try to have an OC ready too in case someone objects that they are already playing him or whatever. And maps would be good I will warn you that I'm really rubbish at dates so if I keep asking when things would have happened please be patient

Who/what are we waiting for at this point? (Also, how do we want to get this started?)

Think we might be waiting for my Aragorn to be approved...

Yeh, sorry, theres not much I can do about that... but it does give us a little time for perhaps another bold adventurer to show up Of course anyone who wants to get into character and post, say, a finding out of the quest, setting off and arriving at the borders of my realm, is more than welcome to do so. Doesn't have to be an adventure in itself, but a nice orientation as to where we are coming from and expecting to find.... baring in mind you will know it is regarding a Dragon.

Indeed there is, and it is about time this story was told. Now , we could meet at Thranduils hall, or PERHAPS Beorn's lodge ( I love that place food is great.). The scouts are out tracking the worms movements as we speak..

Anywhere works for me Gandalf is going to begin idling in the north and I will do a few rp's building him up on his way to Thranduil upon learning of this dragon. Is there anything else I should know/do? EDIT: By North I mean Eriador, not Mount Gundabad per say!

Yeh, do some others first if you like. We can start it later, once we see if any of the others are still about...

What happened to Kaos and his Aragorn profile? He hasn't logged in since April and his application is unanswered. (Apart from a few comments).

Ah, yeh I remember now. The app came in while Arwen was doing Exams and wasn't here so was overlooked .. guess who ever it was got impatient and never came back . I doubt we will have an Aagorn for this adventure, which is unfortunate as he seemed very enthusiastic while he was here...

That's a shame, the time period would be ideal as well as it was when he was doing some of his wanderings. But I suppose we can get by for now with building it up and wating for another courageous adventurer to go on the quest, armed with the counsel of Thranduil and Gandalf.

Thanks. Exams have been slowing me too, but the quest is in its early stages and a short wait might garner a few more characters.

It's good to have another character on board. The more members we can garner the better!
