You know, I'd really like to see someone try and make the Silmarillion into a movie.
What I most want to see, though, is the creation, and Eru, and all the Maiar like they describe in the book, all lights and sound, and the music I think would rock.
Anyone else in with me on this?

It would have to be at least a quadrilogy: Not that that's such a bad thing; I love the Silmarillion, what a history Middle earth has!
Has anyone read Unfinnished Tails; it is also a masterpiece, almost a sequal to the Lord of the Rings: Or was it a prequal? Or both?

The Unfinished Tales has stories from each age, I think there are a few bits that take place after LotR left off. I think the Silm would probably be best as a mini-series...it would require too much time to really get into everything than the big screen would allow...larger stories just fare better in a mini-series format.

Hope i live to see the day, I truly do.
The story of Maeglin on the big screen, or Turin *Drool*
I know men shouldn't cry but...
So much adventure and tragedy *sob*
Unfinnished Tales is a must read for anyone who enjoyed the LOTR + Hobbit, it fills so many gaps in story and history. The hunt for the ring for example or the tragedy of the Gladden fields

I would really like to see The Silmarillion turned into a movie. The whole story is awesome. There would be a lot that would have to be left out, which isn't ever fun, but I'm still for it. I think it could be hard to get the casting right, though... But, I think I'd like to see The Hobbit done first -Vanwaer

The Hobbit is the most likely candidate. I can hardly believe it hasn't already been done to tell the truth. As long as Wetta Workshop do the visuals It would be nice to see Middlearth in happier times (at least in parts) and not in the grips of a cheesy extended laughing sequence around the bed side (lol). It would be great dude.

Haha, I loved that part at the end! Frick beans, Elijah Wood can come up with some of the craziest "suprise!" faces, haha.
I just want them to get on "The Hobbit" soon. Peter Jackson said something about doing it later "after a couple of years" ...But I would want Ian Holm as Bilbo... and -definitely- Ian McKellen as Gandalf. It just can't happen any other way.
And Weta... gah, Weta, how I love thee! *dies*

I just got the Lost Tales part one, which deals with parts of the Silmarillion... way cool. I'd like to see his whole works turned into like a TV series or something, at least. The guy was a bloody genius.

That is very good to know Hope it comes to pass Thranduil will post soon before he's deleted; just having trouble thinking of ideas for such an isolationist... Legolas Thrandu- i-lion: wonder what his mother was called? Thats a poser of a question and no mistake! Don't recall it in any of my 101 books of Tolkien nonsense - doh!

Legolas Thrandu- i-lion: wonder what his mother was called? Thats a poser of a question and no mistake! Don't recall it in any of my 101 books of Tolkien nonsense - doh! No information is really given about the Mirkwood royal family other than it's headed by Thranduil who has a son named Legolas. We do not know the name of the mother, or any other possible siblings. Personally, I do believe that there are other siblings and that Legolas is probably the youngest among them...certain things he's said in LotR would just suggest, to me, that he's in absolutely no danger of claiming the throne...i.e. he's not the crown prince.

I'll only elaborate if you promise to reply in a language I can understand. I'm too lazy to really go through all the references in the books, but here's some online articles that talk a little bit about that, but there is more beyond what they discuss: www.istad.org/tolkien/legolas.htmlwww.suite101.com/article.cfm/tolkien/36517If you really need me to elaborate in my own words than you're going to have to do my studying for me 'cause I'm afraid it's one or the other for me right now.
