Although she is a minor charachter, Goldberry is my favorite EVER charachter! How COULD they leave her and Tom Bombadil out of the movies? How? I have just watched them. Grief, the whole feel is different to Tolkien. They made it kinda Weird. Like Frodo was a young thing, when he was fifty. (I know it SAYS that he looked like a young hobbit, just out of his tweens, but they also made him act like a young hobbits just out of his tweens as well!) Well, in my opinion, Goldberry is the best. So there.
*pokes out tounge at Peter Jackson*

Would have been good for people like us perhaps; but the general viewer would likely not appreciate it, which is a shame. They have cut that bit from all the previous attempts to put LOTR onto screens... and a long sequence it would have to be to remain true to the book and make it worth doing. A shame none the less!
Goldberry is an awesome character.

Goldberry is fabulous. Peter Jackson ALSO gave an unnessacery cold feel to the elves. He made them seem to mysterious and unfriendly. So yet another nit to pick!

I think the elves were portrayed as alienated from the other races for good reason... at that time they largely were. The people Rohan knew of a power in Lothlorien, but called Galadriel a witch... Elronds house would welcome those known to them and the havens were rarely visited by any other beings. Of course the films are set on the brink of world war and all were withdrawn...
The realm of mirkwood had been closed for many years and there was also the closing of the gate of Erebor at that time. Of course we never saw many elves interacting with each other, except in times of sorrow; such as the scenes of Elrond effectively saying goodbye to Arwen etc.

Yes, I suppose so. Peter Jackson did give them an unelfie feel though, i do stick by that. The movie is actually very well made for one who has not read the books.

I didnt mind that the elves seemed cold from the point of viwe of a hobbit or a mortal, what I didnt like was that they all seemed to be with blonde or light in colour, all very tall and thin (too thin), there is such a difference between tall and blonde and naturally beautiful and I thought there were a lack of strong beautiful elves.
