Hey guys,
I haven't disappeared or forgotten about this site--honest! End of the semester, I had all sorts of performances (mainly for choir and the additional practices that were four hours long) and some finals, and I thought perhaps after that things would calm down.
Not so. Had to go to a specialist to have a root canal shortly after the end of the semester, and then I was in the midst of a three-month hypomanic phase that was just ending, which meant *surprise, surprise* my body decided to do some healing and make me sleep in the day but not at night. Muse flatlined for every site I'm on due to the tiredness and memory and concentration issues that are starting to slow down. As though that wasn't enough, my laptop came down with a virus (I'm on the upstairs pc, and it's ancient, so it's slow). Dad's getting me a new laptop for my 21st in May, so yay! ^^ We're shopping around. I know HP/Compaq is out of the question (Why? Mine is an HP, and if I were to list all the issues that it had, it'd take me all day; and even if I loved the Compaq I had before that, the Compaq I had was from before HP and Compaq merged), and Dells sound like they have excellent warranties, but I've had a friend who had the bottom of hers literally melt. Gateway? My mom has one, and it's nice, but its hinges are icky. So, Fry's (I'd try them over Best Buy any day even with how horrible they treat their employees from what I hear after the horrible experience I had with them and their inability to follow through with their end of the warranty bargain) recommended Toshibas; I'm not sure of whether or not those are good, but my dad's leaning towards Asus since he has Asus equip in his desktop he built and loves it.
Then, I was gone most of this week since a) I had to travel up to my uncle's to do work for him, b) he had his doggy put down (he was practically part of the family!), c) my sister had her slumber party Friday and a couple of them stayed Saturday as well, so I had to take them shopping, and d) this morning I had all four of my wisdom teeth extracted. Between the wearing off of the anesthesia, then the Vicodin, and the Amoxycillan, I've been sleeping all day. I'm dizzy and out of it right now a little bit, so I think I'm going to bed now.
Semester starts next week. x.X
Just thought I'd leave a note. Hope everyone else is doing well!
~Jen

I had all four removed at once, so I can sympathize. At least the feeling that you're a swollen chipmunk will go away. The holes, however, won't. Just remember not to suck on anything and rinse with your salt water like told. The saline helps prevent infections, and there's rare few things worse and an infection of the jaw. Also, dry sockets suck! Which, oddly enough, is how you get them.

Hope you're feeling better, Hannah!
The holes no go away? =\ *cries* They're annoying me, lol, especially when I'm eating stuff that gets caught in them. As long as the stitches dissolve like they're supposed to so I'm not permanently stuck feeling like string's in my mouth, it's all well and good, though, I suppose.
Hope your extraction goes well, Saruman! Make your ice packs the night before (30 minutes on, 20 off from what mine said) to have them handy the first couple days to help with the swelling and slightly with the pain. I have a recipe (all it is is a certain part water and a certain part rubbing alcohol) for it that the specialist gave me, if you need it. It's worlds better than ice since it's a slushy type mixture that conforms to your face, though you'll obviously still want a towel around it. My grandma and I made two and wrapped them in individual, small towels and got an elastic band and made it the size of around my head to hold it so it stayed in place. It made it much easier than having to rest it on the pillows that keep your head propped and then keep your arm up to hold it on the side that wasn't on the pillow, as you can imagine, though it probably looked funny.
And Thranduil, I do believe one will be a cakewalk. All the same, I obviously wish you well, too, when you have it done. Just remember, the younger you have your wisdom teeth done, the better since roots haven't fully formed on them, etc., which makes for better recovery time.
I have my follow-up on Tuesday (Right after my first Spanish class in over a year), but right now I'm wishing it was tomorrow so I can get some more Vicodin. I don't want to stay on it long because 1) I don't like taking more pills than my Lithium (aka what I have to) and 2) I don't want to get hooked. I've used it sparingly, but I only have one of twenty left now, and yesterday after a few days of not hurting, my right jaw has started severely hurting. It's not another tooth in my mouth. The pain's more towards the joint. TMJ? All I know is I'm calling tomorrow to see if they're open. Might not be w/ MLK Jr. Day, but it's worth a shot. The pain has got to go because I want my clarinet. Violin's fine and dandy, but I'm not good, lol. =p Music = my therapy. Plus, it's a little hard to get into my character's mindset to even think of posting despite having some good RP-ers to reply to when my mind's like "Ok, breathe."
It sucks to be sitting in the hair salon waiting for mom and sister to get their hair cut and be trying to read The Bourne Supremacy (I guess I should be thankful it wasn't a part with annoying Marie) and not scrunch my face up. At least there was this ADORABLE little boy getting his hair cut near the waiting area so we were all watching him. Oh my gosh, I need some friends with toddlers so I can babysit or something because no way am I having a kid before having a proper bf, fiance, and then husband or finishing school, lol.
Quote of the day? "Ready, Freddy?" "I'm not Freddy! I'm Logan!"
And thus concludes my odd ramble. *blames it on hour?* >>;
EDIT: Heating pad! Can't use it the first few days, but it's working wonders on this pain here in my jaw.

I'm not doing well, Jen. I wish I had better news for you. And no, the holes never go away, sorry. You'll be pulling food out of them forever... at least, I've had mine out for nigh on 6 years and they're still there. I get mushy food like chips and stuff stuck in there. It is a pain, and my finger almost doesn't fit back there to get the food out. But... yeah, it does get better. Instead of everything getting stuck it's only some things.

That it does. *hugs* But at the same time I'm feeling very, very excited for some reason right now about it (and I just wrote a super long post at 2 a.m. on my site as an NPC...at least compared to what I've been writing of late, lol). o.O Despite all this and despite having severe psychosis yesterday morning. =p I'm around people again now because of the new semester, so I think that's why, but my Spanish teacher didn't show, so that was a little disappointing.
Found out the pain was dry socket when I went in today, and they packed it with some stuff that protects the exposed bone or whatever (I can't focus on that paper I just read on it) and has medicine to help with the pain, which means tomorrow I go back to get it removed and repacked. Then, I wait two days and repeat. She says it usually takes about four times, but it varies as each person is different. Much better than what I was expecting to be told. I was extremely relieved. It just hurt worse for the first half hour after she packed it, and then the medicine in it chased the pain away.
And that's strange, Hannah. I asked the lady today about the holes because she said something about them, and she said they go away 6-8 weeks for most people, sometimes as soon as two, which they hate because then there tends to end up infection from entrapped food. Do you still have the syringe they gave you (if they did) to flush out the holes with warm water? She just gave me one w/ a tongue depressor (to hold my cheek out of the way) today and showed me how. If not, maybe like one of those syringes they sell at pet stores to feed baby birds with would be comparable to use. At least keep you from having to use your finger. *shrugs*
Oh, and celebrate with me! Daddy just ordered my laptop. It's an Asus and sounds very nice. He said it should come in within the next couple day, and he says that he's going to try to get mom to let him give it to me now instead of waiting until my birthday in May. *hopes* Asus sounds like an awesome laptop manufacturer, though. Obviously their computer parts are quality since they make them (dad built his desktop with their parts, and it runs so fast), but with their laptops? The manufacturer's warranty, which is usually one year parts and labor for most companies, no?, is 2 years plus 1 year of accidental damage. Then, you can buy extra warranties on top of that. Dad bought me a three year, so, I'm covered for a long time. ^^ *is so very relieved to be getting away from craptastic, money swindling HP*
*throws confetti*

Told you dry sockets suck. Anyway, the 'holes' go away but the 'divet' from where your teeth used to be never goes away. I call it a hole because stuff gets stuck back there. But, whatever, it's semantics. I'm glad you're getting your new laptop. It sounds very shiny. I think when I buy a new computer, it'll be a PC. Call me screwy, but I need to have a keyboard. I just can't adapt to a laptop, though I am sure eventually I will get one that I can connect to my main drive.

The roots are always there, as is the tooth; it just has to push through your gums. That's why doctors know you'll only get two sets of teeth, because they are already in there.

Hey there, everybody! It's great to see that there's still a couple of people here... It's a shame that Alatar has gone MIA. Oh well. I think the revamping of the boards is looking GREAT, and I plan to start some new threads (and reply to ours, Thranduil) very soon!

Yep, revamp is looking nice so far. ^^ I shall try to read it when I'm not busy hacking up my lungs. Been sick all of my spring break, and the semester just started, and I'm still coughing. A little annoying not to be able to walk across campus without having pain in my chest and being short of breath and coughing. If I had $30 (plus a little more money in case I need a med) I'd be going to the doctor, but right now my mom's not concerned enough to tell me to go ahead and go. x.x Anyway, need any help around here, just i/m me, and I'll try to help, if I can.
