Since the early 1960’s, Domino Academy had been training talented young men and women with extraordinary gifts. The Academy was the best kept secret and yet the biggest producer of successful superhero’s in the world.
What? Did you think they just fell from the sky and instantly knew how to control they powers? This is the real world, not some comic book. There wasn’t any chemical waste spill, or radioactive spider. These are real kids, with real talents.
For decades the teachers have provided the students with the means to learn to discover and channel their own personal abilities, taking on their fellow students in combat. Learning honor, humility, faith and strength.
But never in their years did they think that they’d train one of the most high profiled criminal’s in this world. In the 1970’s, a young boy with two rare gifts showed up at the door steps of Domino Academy. He had the power to absorb and cancel the superpowers of others, then twist and use them himself.
Alek Boone was his name. As a teenager Alek was depicted as having a dour and intense personality. He was cold, calculating, precise, sarcastic, bitter, but was also very insecure and vulnerable. He shared a bitter rivalry with many of the students, as well as some of the teachers - Mainly Mr Michael Robotham, the schools gym and recreational teacher, who often put Alek down about his lack of development and skill sets.
Maybe given his time over again, under different circumstances Alek would not have become what he is today, but like many insecure, vulnerable people he craved membership of something big and powerful, something impressive. He was so blinded by his attraction to the dark side he thought that people would find him impressive if he became a real, true villain. Completely devoid of the normal human responses to other people’s suffering.
Despite all of this Domino Academy never saw it coming. It was in the late 1980’s that Alek Boone returned and this time with groups at his command and a ferocity none had ever seen before. It was a complete massacre. Students and teachers where murdered, their powers where stolen - Alek had sucked them right out of their bodies like a hungry leech. But the remaining students and teachers fought back with equal force, rose up from the devastation and wiped out Alek’s groups. It was Dominic Browne, the first principal of Domino High that overcame Alek before turning him over to the authorities. He was convicted on trial and his powers where stripped from him forever. Then, the court banished him to live amongst the ‘normal’s’ for the rest of his life. These students and teachers who fought again Alek Boone where among the pantheon of hero’s who would be honored forever.
It took two years for the reputation of the school to drag itself out of the mud and back into the good graces of the parents so that the school was deemed safe to start a new semester once again. The group of young students and teachers who helped to bring down Alek where immortalized in the school’s hall of fame.
It is now the mid-semester of 2009, and the school is flourishing. The student’s who had defeated Alek have all gone and graduated but still, not everything is going as well as hoped. People living in towns around the school are beginning to loose their powers. Most of the rumors claim that the high profile criminal, Alek has escaped from his ‘prison’ and has somehow been re-acquainted with his powers. He is more powerful than ever, requiting larger numbers of followers, and gaining strength in power and numbers everyday.
The job of preventing this pending crisis from occurring has been given to the students and teachers here at Domino Academy, once more. Will the new students be able to stop his attempt to take over once again? Or will the foundations on which the school stands, fall?
