On August 23rd, the special-special editions of The Lord of the Rings movies are supposed to come out; I'm not sure exactly what's different about them, but I know Peter Jackson will be making even more money off the trilogy... Check it out here: www.lordoftherings.net |

Thats ridiculous; hope they make a disgusting amount of money (that they can never hope to spend sensibly) and I hope no-one here is foolish enough to buy such a con. Extra "making-of" footage; after getting like three hours worth on each extended DVD, they can keep it!
Any bets they sell for about $50 (£30 odd) each; booo!
Peter Jackson did a good job with the trilogy, better than perhaps any other film-maker i could think of; but it wasn't perfect. Money grabbing ***********!
I'll let the Nut fans buy that waste of time. (they most certainly will and good luck to 'em)

From what people are saying on my lj, the main difference is that they have both the extended version and the theatrical edition on the discs. If they couldn't fit more than half of each movie on two discs on the ee sets, then, I don't see how once they add the theatrical edition to one of those two they'll have much room for much 'never-before-seen making of' stuff. Not going to buy it myself. Even if I wanted to, mom would think me crazy and not let me.

Haha, yeah, well I never got the extended versions and I only have them on VHS at my "primary residence" or whatever you want to call it, so...if I find a couple hundred dollar bills on the street, I'll take a closer look at it...

That would be sweet!
Why not add the assault on Lorien scene, which they filmed and thought... I know lets leave it out, to save time for god knows what.
I'm sure they could make a twenty hour version from the footage they have (I suppose sane people would be a bit overwhelmed but...)
Oh yeh they cut scenes of the Uruk-hai crossing Rohan too! They simplified it after filming and even Jacko thought it wasn't as convincing. It would have brought some much needed depth to the orcs (of various breeds); they are after all people too! LOL
The two scenes they ended up with were made of snippets of the original three, i believe. Now if they were on it; i would concider getting the first two, at least... but i can't see that happening.
I'll have to begPete with endless E-mails (or think of something clever - don't hold your breath!)
