Name of site: After Fairytale's End
Plot: Welcome to the great land of Iridhin, where magic abounds, strange creatures are commonly found raiding the kitchen pantry, and handsome princes get turned into ever-so-kissable frogs!
Iridhin consists of two parts: the King’s land of Wittinglea in the south and the smaller Duchy of Erylcrest in the north. The Duchy is actually a part of the larger kingdom, but for many hundreds of years has been watched over by the King’s right hand man, the Duke. Iridhin is also the land where a most extraordinary story unfolded: a common girl became Queen! A chambermaid named Elanora Bray fell for the then Prince Cale of Whitewood, and in the end it was revealed that Miss Bray was actually Duchess of Brayreve (A surprise to all of those involved), the lost descendant of the last ruler over the Duchy. His line ended when his son was killed and his daughter (Elanora) disappeared, and the Duchy had since been handed over to the Wynderdown family who currently holds power there.
The King and Queen of Wittinglea now have two children, both sons, and years ago made a pact with the Duchy of Erylcrest that the Duke’s eldest daughter would marry the King’s eldest son. There had been few conflicts between the Kingdom and the Duchy over the centuries, but the agreement had been mutual and so the betrothal was set and both parts of Iridhin heaved a sigh of relief.
That is, until the Duke’s daughter kissed a talking turtle.
Now, this was in fact an enchanted prince, who had been trapped in the form of a turtle for nearly three hundred years, doomed to walk the earth as the slow moving animal until a pure-hearted kiss could set him free. Well, this prince was not just any prince; he was Bran of Whitewood, the Crown Prince who mysteriously disappeared three hundred years ago and his disappearance set off the bloodiest conflict ever between the Kingdom and the Duchy.
This development has done nothing good to the planned marriage between the Duke’s daughter and Crown Prince Galen of Whitewood, since she is completely besotted with Galen’s many times great uncle. Needless to say, Bran is rather unsettled by the whole thing, because he can see clearly how easily it could turn from dispute into conflict, and he does not want to be the cause of another period of bloodshed and discord, no matter how attracted he is to Duke Philip’s daughter.
Unfortunately, what goes on in the personal lives of the members of the royal family and the family of the duke can affect all the residents of Iridhin, and the people are nervous for they too know that such things can easily lead to battles that they too can be caught in the middle of. Not only that, pirate and outlaw activity has increased, and the people are uneasy, traveling only when absolutely necessary. And to top it all off, folks have reported seeing strange lights at night in the upper reaches of the gloomy Becharmed Spire. Once inhabited by a powerful sorceress, the Spire now stands empty and dusty, or so it would seem.
It seems that happily ever after has to be put on hold in light of current events, though the hope that everything will work out still remains in the hearts of a few, after fairytale’s end.
