FINITE INCANTATEM - A Harry Potter RPG

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

This is a forum-based Harry Potter roleplay game, taking place after Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts. To allow for certain freedoms, the roleplay is technically Alternate Universe. However, it is (more or less) canon-compliant up to the sixth book.

BUT WHY?

Honestly, to make things more interesting. What fun is there in reenacting what has already happened in the series? It also leaves more wiggle room for characters (for instance, should any previously deceased characters be sought after, we may allow them to exist within this universe).

There will also be wiggle room as far as deaths occurring prior to the sixth book (this does not mean that Lily and James Potter can be alive and well-- that alters things a tad much).

WILL THERE BE A PLOT?

A large plot is planned out and is currently in its early stages on the board. Briefly, this is what's in store: Death Eater attacks have increased and the Ministry, in attempt to put an end to this, has begun preemptive raids on suspected followers of Voldemort. The Ministry wants to create a safe environment and will "leave no stone unturned," if you will. The guerilla raids have left innocent people injured, though, causing people to question the Ministry's actions. Some oppose the Ministry completely and have joined the Resistance.
Witches and wizards are taking sides - Are you with the Death Eaters or against them? Are you pro-Ministry or pro-Resistance?
In this plot, we hope to have a variation of character opinions regarding the actions taken by all parties. In addition, we hope to create a plot in which all members can participate. The Order of the Phoenix, Dumbledore's Army, Death Eaters, and Ministry members will all be directly involved. All other players are more than welcome and encouraged to take part in the various events that will accompany our newly developed plotline.

OTHER:

-While there is no age limit on our roleplay, there is a PG-13 rating.
-Members should be willing and able to write thoughtful posts while remaining as true to the canon character as possible.
-Many canon positions are available.
