New player help

Hi. I am interested in role-playing but do not know where to start, let alone where to begin with my character profile. All I know is that I want be a dwarf and not much else. I'm rather new at role-playing to but it interests me nonetheless. If anyone would give me an introduction to all this, I would be grateful.
