…Keeping The Balance…
Where you end up when you die is your choice. Everyone in this world has the ability to make their lives what they want it to be, to strive to be the very best they can or to simply let everything fall from beneath them. Whether people choose to take control however is another question altogether. There are those of us who will grasp onto a hand if it is held out to us, but there are also those of us who will turn our heads simply because we don't believe that we deserve the help we're being offered, and then again there are those of us who simply don't want help. Whatever path you choose, whatever choices you make, in the end it all matters because a judgment day will come and only then will you truly realize just how much it all mattered. Making the right choices, helping people, helping yourself. Or just doing everything you can to survive, to save yourself. Every single thing you do will have an effect on how everything ends.
But does it end? This is the after-life. Whether you be Demon, Angel, Vampire, Half-breed or even a lost-soul, you've made your choices, made your mistakes and now there's no going back. You can never change what you did in your lives, so for your sake I hope your outcome is one you can live with.
And The Players Are;;
Mere mortals, nothing more than your run of the mill people going about their daily lives oblivious to the wars that go on around them. You might think that they're participation in the grand scheme of things is severely minimal, but they're capable of so much more than they truly realize. The good, the bad, the one's who just don't give a damn, all of them have a great impact on the balance. But at the moment we can be thankful that things have been kept pretty even.
So you lost your life and realized that death wasn't the end after all? That you have an eternity stretched out in front of you beyond a horizon you can't even see yet... It takes time to get used to what's happened, to fully understand that you're dead and you'll probably never be the same again. But now you have so much more on your shoulders than ever before. The weight of the world it would seem.
Some have argued that it's the valley of the damned, however a lot of Demons would say otherwise. If your soul was ripped from you at death and thrown into the fountain of the damned then God knows you're pretty much a lost cause to everyone. But it's not all that bad, even hell can have its perks. There are so many less restrictions than the one's heaven carry. No boundaries you can't cross, no rules you can't break, no mortal you can't try and damn.
The Grim Reaper and Death, two beings responsible for all of the souls in the world, because let's face it, when your time comes they're going to be there and they'll be dragging you, kicking and screaming if they have to. But even two people so used to their occupations can slip up every once in a while. So it's no wonder that on occasion souls become lost, or misplaced as Grim and Death would have it. Maybe you'll spend the rest of your lives no more than a whisper to other mortals, or maybe you'll finally find someone who can help you, someone to point you in the right direction.
Masquerade. A ball to celebrate everything that ever has been, everything that ever was and everything that is yet to come. It amazes even the most unshakable of people to find that during the ball you might chance upon God and Satan themselves enjoying a civilized cup of tea and a game of chess together. But that's the reason masquerade was brought about, a joining of people who would otherwise be at each others throats. Even Angels and Demons need a break every once in a while, so rules become a little more lax, and tongues often become a little more lubricated. So really it's no wonder that these half-breeds have started showing up. Heart of an Angel but flair of a Demon? It's not all that improbable...
Vampires have been around since the very beginning of time, sucking the blood of innocent victims, turning mortals into their own kind. It's no wonder that both Angels and Demons are cautious of their ways, aggravated by their stealth. What Demon needs a vampire turning their pray into a walking ready meal? Especially when said Demon was so close to damning the person. But nevertheless, there are Vampires, some who have been alive (or dead as it were) for centuries. Others who have only recently been brought into the fold. It's a dangerous world out there for a mortal, any Vampire could tell you that.
How many neutrals there are in this world has yet to be debated, however we can claim two into this fold. The Grim Reapers themselves are as old as time, and unsurprisingly they've remained more or less neutral since the very beginning. When it comes to carting souls around on a daily basis then you can be assured that they visit both hell and heaven as often as me and you brush our teeth.
